Spinning News
My aunt died some time ago, having lived to be eighty or so. She had never married. While clearing out her possessions, we came across a battered photograph of a young man whom my aunt had loved. The relationship had ended tragically. She never loved anyone else and kept for the remainder of her life a photograph of the man she had loved.
Why? As she aged, she knew that she would have difficulty believing that, at one point in her life, someone had once cared for her and regarded her as his everything. It could all have seemed a dream, an illusion, something she had invented in her old age to console her in her declining years — except for the photo. The photo reminded her that she really had loved someone once and was loved in return.
It was her sole link to a world in which she had been valued.
Communion bread and juice, like that photograph, reassure us that something that seems too good to be true — something that we might even be suspected of having invented — really did happen.
Each month, we have the opportunity to look at a spiritual photograph. The bread and cup of the Lord's supper provide a picture of what it took for our sins to be forgiven and for us to be allowed to be a part of the family of God. Our self-examination gives us a picture of our hearts full of sin, but which have been cleansed by our confession of those sins and the release of our spiritual burdens. The people in the pews in front, behind and beside us paint a picture of the bond that we have through our mutual faith in our Savior.
Come join us on the first Sunday of each month as we share together in looking at this photograph. And come every Sunday after that as we live out the things we have seen in that photograph.
With Love,
Pastor Scott

“God’s rock-solid truth in a world of shifting sands!” – Romans 12:2
Come join us July 14 – 19 as We dive in and discover God's rock-solid truth in a world of shifting sands! This summer kids will be challenged as they discover that God’s truth never changes, EVERYONE needs Jesus, and learn to speak the truth in love. Adventure awaits each day as kids explore tide pools, spot orcas, fly kites, and watch the mighty waves crash up against the immovable Breaker Rock.
This fun event is designed especially for children age 3 (and fully potty trained by 6-1-2024) through those who just completed 6th grade! Our free event is open to the entire community. This event will help kids discover the truth about Jesus through amazing worship music, outdoor games, crafts,
great snacks, fun, friends, missions, and most importantly, time spent learning about Jesus, and more!
Our goal is to present the gospel of Christ in a fun and memorable way and invite the students to receive Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.

“Let me tell you why you are here…You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world…Keep open house; be generous with your lives.” (Matthew 5:13-16, The Message)
One Great Hour of Sharing supports disaster relief, ministries to displaced persons, and development projects of the American Baptist Churches and its partners. The fund is administered by the World Relief Committee of the Board of General Ministries of American Baptist Churches USA. This offering is promoted in May and June.
Throughout the year, there may be special appeals for particular disasters.
To designate your OGHS gift, please make sure to indicate to which appeal you are responding, for example, “OGHS – Ukraine Relief.” The World Relief Committee will disburse the undesignated gifts to domestic and global projects.
This is why we are here: to be shining witnesses of uncommon love and enduring hope and to be generous with our lives. We hope you will invite giving to the One Great Hour of Sharing offering this year with the same spirit of joyful generosity you have for so many years!
