Our hope is like that of St. Francis of Assisi, who prayed “Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.”
So when we are unsuccessful at doing that, it can make us feel like failures as Christians. And if the conflict is due to our own issues with anger and pride, then we must confess those sins and try to make amends.
But sometimes, those conflicts can simply not be avoided and actually must be confronted. It is the actually the most Christ-like thing we can do. And that can cause much grief and pain. We don't feel like the peace-making vessel that we feel God wants us to be. I found the following excerpt from a book by Madeleine L'Engle that helps to put a little difference perspective when this kind of thing happens.
I was talking to my spiritual director about a deep spiritual grief. I kept telling him how woefully I must have failed someone I loved for that person to have wronged me so destructively.
He said to me calmly, “Who are you to think you are better than our Lord? After all, he was singularly unsuccessful with a great many people.”
That remark has stood me in great stead time and again. I have to try, but I do not have to succeed. Following Christ has nothing to do with success as the world sees success. It has to do with love.
In our attempts to be instruments of God's peace, may we take comfort in the fact that even Jesus couldn't do that for those who would reject His truth. His truth is what we must stand for. His love is what we must show. His salvation is what makes all the difference.
With Love,
Pastor Scott

As much as we all hate to see summer coming to an end, it does mean another cool year of Awana is about to begin!
Awana will begin a new club year, Wednesday, September 4th at 6:05 pm. We look forward to beginning this upcoming 21st club year of learning, growing, and having fun. Clubbers crawl under your beds (don’t get stuck, yikes), look in your closets, gather up your Awana gear, bring some new friends, and Let’s get ready to Rock this new Club Year!
Registration is required for all clubbers and leaders, it’s simple, log on to www.spinningroadbaptist.org, and register as soon as possible.
Please pray for leaders, clubbers, and missionaries that our AWANA ministry can continue
to lead the children of our Church and community to Jesus Christ and train them to honor and serve Him.
Thank-you for your continued support in this ministry! Help us teach, reach, and lead them because kids matter to God.
For more information feel free to reach out to us at (937)252-5311 or email us at [email protected].

This offering is used for emergency needs and financial assistance for those in need. This has been a great ministry of our church through the years, and we just want to remind you that we are continuing to collect this offering. There is a basket marked Fellowship Fund on the table at the back of the sanctuary or you may send in your offering specified as Fellowship Fund.
We still focus on the offering on the 3rd Sunday, but you may give at any time.
Then on Saturday, we will be at the Bergamo Center. We will meet up at 8:30 am and finish at 4:00 pm. We will be looking at what the Bible says about Heaven and Earth and also how do we live as Citizens of God's
kingdom in today's fallen world. We will eat lunch in the dining room at the Bergamo center.
The Church will provide the fried Chicken and the drinks (water & a variety of sodas). Come join us and bring a vegetable, salad, or dessert to share, an appetite, your family, and friends!

Thank you for coordinating your church’s donation to our “Day of Giving Back”. Because of your generosity, we provided over 900 book bags filled with school supplies to our families in the Mad River Local Schools.
I cannot express enough the gratitude my staff, our community, our students, and I have for your church. You have made a difference in a child’s life and allowed them to begin the school year positively as they step into the hallways of our eight school buildings. We are truly blessed to have such great partners.
Thank You,
Chad When, Superintendent

This group of six interns, most from Texas, arrived in Kyoto, Japan, last fall with the hope of developing a campus ministry at some of the top schools in Japan. One was returning from the previous year, while the other five were all new to Japan and new to full-time ministry. From the beginning, they started having significant challenges ranging from team conflict to cultural adjustment to health issues.
These challenges caused me and other coaches to discuss how best to support them. In January, I attended a mid-year conference with the team and started to see some of the first significant steps of growth and change in the team. During that conference, they had some hard conversations and moved closer to each other in trust and community. I could see God working in each of their individual lives.
This past month, I was in Japan for their debriefing as they prepared to wrap up a year of ministry and return home. We celebrated what God had done in and through that team. They have seen so much trust develop as a team, and they have all come to love Japan and see it as home.
Right before they left for home, they saw several people in their ministry take steps of faith, either following Jesus for the first time or publicly announcing their faith through baptism. Praise God!
Thank you so much for supporting me as I supported the interns. I couldn’t do this
without you!
