Spinning News
Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.”
It is easy to neglect having this attitude with so many of the tasks we have to do. The world and its ways can readily infiltrate our hearts and minds and cause to have a mindset of cynicism and self-preservation. I found a list of general observations on life and work that I found to be humorous and grounded in some truth, but still reflects a general skepticism that is common to us all.
1. Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool.
2. The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
3. Borrow money from a pessimist; they don’t expect it back.
4. If at first you don’t succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.
5. You don’t get experience until just after you need it.
6. The sooner you fall behind, the more time you will have to catch up.
7. If at first you don’t succeed, then skydiving isn’t for you.
There can be many pitfalls of working toward our various goals, and things can happen that can discourage and distract us. May each of us learn to concentrate more on our ultimate purpose: that of pleasing the Lord
and bringing Him glory through our efforts and attitudes. May we define success not by the standards of the world or the material benefits we may encounter, but by the testimony of our faith to others, by our faithfulness to God and by our obedience to His Spirit.
With Love, Pastor Scott

Teaching and Training Kids That Rock for Jesus
We've had an exciting few months in Awana! Our clubbers have been busy completing start zones, receiving new uniforms, making friends, and working through their handbooks. It's really cool to see them grow and learn God's Word, and applying it to their daily lives. We are thankful for our leaders and families who participate each week.
Each of our clubs discusses the lesson, works on verses, plays games, prays, and grows closer to God through the ministry of Awana. Praise God for this exciting weekly outreach ministry!
Serving Our Community
This past month, we've been involved in several outreach projects.
We collected non-perishable food items for the Food Pantry and assembled shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.
On the 13th Our clubbers also honored our veterans by dressing in red, white, and blue.
Giving Back
On November 20th, our Journey, Trek, and T&T clubbers, along with their leaders, helped to assemble 25 Thanksgiving baskets for needy families in our community. Thank you for your generosity! And hard work
Taking a Break
We took a break from club on the 27th in observance of Thanksgiving.
We hope that you had a safe and Happy Thanksgiving spending time with family & friends, hopefully not eating too much.

“Thank you for the special gift you’ve extended at the end of the year.
It has helped with medical expenses for my wife, who is now in hospice care.”
—Retiree from Muncy, PA
Sometimes your gift is the answer to an urgent prayer.
Comfort
“Thank you for the check that arrived last week. It means a great deal to me. I had to have a tooth pulled recently which cost $600. That unexpected expense was a real burden. Your gift has eased my worries considerably.” —Retiree from NH
Other times it is a heartwarming reminder that the American Baptist Churches USA still love and support those who gave so much to the church.
Tribute
“Thank you so much for the recent check. It is always nice to be remembered.” — Retiree from Boston, MA
But every time they receive emergency assistance or a Thank You check,
the retired ministers, missionaries and widowed spouses pause to express their gratitude.
Please join us as we support this important ministry.
