Spinning News

At times the water would reach our yard, but never our house. Us 3 boys (I have twin little brothers) along with neighbor kids would play in the water and await the receding of the water so we could fish, swim, and play in it. We even named a fish that we kept trying to catch, but never could. We were completely unaware of the dangers that lurked in that flooded creek.
As I write this, flood warnings have been issued around us and none of us are unaware of the dangers of flood waters as we see the news reporting on destroyed property, vehicles, and people.
During the past few months, your church has been through a flood of emotions. As I said a few weeks ago, Lin and I have been on both sides of Pastoral Leadership changes. We have had to say farewell to the pastors of churches we were members of and to churches I have pastored. It is never easy, and I have never said farewell to a congregation without shedding tears. We have loved our congregations and they have loved us. The same goes for you. God promises: "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you..." Isaiah 43:2 The greatest consolation we have is God's presence with us as we go through problems. Corrie Ten Boom said, "Faith doesn't always take you out of the problem, Faith takes you through the problem, Faith doesn't always take away the pain, Faith gives you the ability to handle the pain, Faith doesn't always take you out of the storm, Faith calms you in the midst of the storm."
Corrie and her sister Betsy were arrested for hiding Jews in their home in Haarlem, Holland in 1944. Betsy died of starvation in Ravensbruck, Germany, yet they had smuggled into the labor camp a Bible which they read and shared with others. Corrie went through those flooded waters.
Let's stand on God's promise that we will "get through" this transitional period, (not over it) because you all still love Pastor Scott and Colleen and they still
love you.
My Grandpa Owens taught me well when he said "What doesn't kill you, will make you stronger."
I count it a privilege to be your Interim Pastor and will do everything within my power to help you through this time until God leads to you another pastor.
In Service to Jesus, our Lord and Savior,
Pastor Steve and Lin Tufts

AWANA MINUTE
As we welcome the arrival of Spring, we reflect on a February that was truly one for the books - cold, warm, icy, and snowy! Despite the unpredictable weather, our AWANA clubbers continued to grow in their knowledge and love for Jesus.
- February 5: Soup'er Bowl Theme Night Clubbers brought non-perishable foods to help refill our Church's food pantry and wore their favorite sports gear for a fun-filled evening.
- Sparks Late Night Out Party (Feb 21): Our Sparks (grades K-2) enjoyed an evening of devotions, games, and activities tailored just for them.
- Glow Night (Feb 26): We had a blast playing glow-in-the-dark games in the Fellowship Hall. Shining our light for God.
- Grand Prix Race (March 19, 6:05 pm): Join us as our clubbers race the cars they designed and built. We invite the congregation, families, and friends to cheer on our racers! If you can volunteer for setup or takedown, please contact Michelle or Tere.
We're grateful for our dedicated leaders who bring joy, enthusiasm and love to our club each week. Your prayers and support mean the world to us. Thank you for valuing children and youth ministry!
Cool with Christ,

See ya there!

Colleen and I would like to express our gratitude for the wonderful send-off you gave to us. It was a simply amazing day. Your expressions of love and appreciation will always be a treasure to us, even more than the abundance of cards and gifts we received, which were truly overwhelming.
"Thank You" does not seem to cover it, but it comes from the deepest place in our hearts.
With love,
(Pastor) Scott

CARRY ON THE LEGACY OF GOOD WORKS WITH
YOUR GIVING!
For over 50 years, generous giving to the America for Christ (AFC) Offering has enabled ABHMS to provide financial support to American Baptist churches and affiliated organizations across the United States and Puerto Rico each year. Some examples of the positive impact your dollars have had on our beloved communities:
Funding direct assistance to the residents of Youngstown, Ohio, that included food boxes, meals for children, clothing banks and distribution of commodities such as diapers, school supplies, clothing, and housewares.
Funding youth education and enrichment programs as well as senior services that delivered lunches, health education and socialization opportunities,
and groceries in bulk through a food pantry, among other things,
to communities in and around Kansas City, Kansas.
Funding Rainbow Acres, a faith-based residential community with a wide range of programs for developmentally disabled adults from more than
15 states and representing an array of faith backgrounds including
American Baptists.
These are just a few of the ways your dollars provide aid and comfort to those in need; there are many more. Please help us continue to bring healing and hope to communities, families, children, and Jesus’ disciples in 2025 by giving to the America for Christ Offering.
