This is going out early so you have time to read and be prepared for Wednesday, January 3, our first day back for students. Please remember when buying school snacks for the new year we do have some classes that have students with peanut allergies. We want to keep them safe so avoid snacks with peanut ingredients.
What promising gifts a new year brings. An entire year’s worth of wonderful opportunities given to us one sunrise at a time. We hope your family has a wonderful Christmas Holiday.
Everyone will be recharged and ready to get back to school. Each day is exciting for us with young children. We marvel at how they are growing and happy to share in their discovery of new experiences and accomplishments. They grow so fast and learn so much in these young years.
It is now cold and flu season. If your child has any of the usual signs associated with a virus, please keep them home. It is difficult to concentrate on class activities when you are not feeling good. There are always expectant Moms and families with newborns or very young children that should not be exposed unnecessarily to these viruses. Remember to call the office when your child is going to be absent. We care about our students and want to know when they are not feeling good. It also helps us explain to their classmates when one of their friends is not in class.
The Elder Beerman Community Booklet Sale profits were $450.00. The fundraisers are generally used to replace old learning equipment too expensive to fit into the yearly working budget.
This year the whole staff decided we needed to replace as many of our badly worn classroom tables as we could. Since the Church also uses our tables, they agreed to match what we could take out of our budget. This gave us enough money to replace 5 of the worst ones we had We were able to replace Mrs. Butcher and Mrs. Johnson’s tables but nothing was left for Mrs. Karmele’s room. Her 2 tables were going to cost an extra $448.00.
When we saw that the families raised $450.00 we knew this was the best time to get all the tables replace. The last two tables arrived Monday, December 10th and are being put to good use. Thanks to your hard work hopefully we won’t have to replace our tables for another 25 years. We appreciate your hard work in helping us achieve this goal.
In the second semester, if you would like for your child to get more class time before going off to Kindergarten in the fall there are still a few openings in the Tuesday and Thursday Pre-K class. Talk to Mrs. Butcher or Mrs. Bange if you’re interested.

Early Beginners
We wish all of our families a very blessed New Year. We hope that you enjoy your Christmas with
family and friends.
Now it is time to focus on the joys of winter. This month we will do crafts pertaining to this season like snowmen, penguins, polar bears and mittens. At this age, it is important to review their social skills for sharing, being a good listener and self-help skills on a daily basis.
Our class will continue the process of learning the alphabet and numbers. This month our letters will be L, M and N, the number 5 and the color blue. We will do different craft projects that will reinforce these letters, number and color.

Middlers
Welcome 2018! We hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas Season with family and friends. We are looking forward to the second half of our school year.
Snowmen, snowflakes, books, hot cocoa will be in order for January. The alphabet is coming along
with letters Q, S, P, J, and O to be focused on. Review of numbers, opposites, shapes and other basics
will also be covered.
We continue to encourage our class to write their names. If you can find some time to work with your child, it would be helpful as we are going to introduce last names. Many of the students are unsure of their last name it would be helpful if you talk about this with them.
Social skills are so important, we continue to talk about how to respect, to be kinds, and share with others. We also talk about how important it is to take care of our classroom toys and books.
There will not be any school on January 15th Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Please replace your child’s change of clothes with winter items and always keep them in their tote. We want to remind everyone that we have a peanut allergy in our room. When you send in your child’s morning snack it must be peanut free so this student isn’t exposed to anything with peanuts. We would like for you to write your child’s name with a marker or place a piece of tape with his or her name on their snack. We have no way of recognizing whose snack it is without a name attached.

Dear Preschool Parents,
January is here and that means it’s “back–to-school” time once again. I trust you had a great holiday with your loved ones and enjoyed the Spirit of Christmas.
It was such a blessing to hear and see the meaning of Christmas in your children’s voices and faces during our “Journey Back to Bethlehem” program. Thank you to all who were able to attend and enjoy the students’ performances.
As second semester begins, keep encouraging your child to do their best. Some students still
need to learn their phone number sticker, so check their big crayon chart to see where your child stands. We will begin right away with our address, so work on that at home. This month we will be working on recognizing our last name, starting the teen family (10-19) number, letters, blended letters and patterns.
Our time will fly as did first semester, so hold on tight and enjoy the learning.
