As people who have turned to Christ for salvation from our sins, we have all felt it. That yearning for something to fill the emptiness in our souls cries out for us to do something about it. We have found that only knowing Christ is sufficient. Perhaps you tried other things along the way before you came to your ultimate conclusion. Many do. There may be somethings things that appear to bring the satisfaction that we are looking for. The temporary relief that can come from artificial stimulants such as drugs or alcohol can deceive us into thinking we have found the answer. But then we discover the relief is only temporary and becomes harder and harder to achieve.
The pursuit of pleasure via other means leads us to travel and adventures and new experiences that are indeed thrilling, but still are only temporary. The accumulation of wealth may appear for some to be the epitome of fulfillment,
but there is story after story of wealthy, but unhappy people. Others believe they can fill the void with more seemingly noble things, such as a successful career, a thriving family, or altruistic endeavors. As satisfying as those things may sometimes feel, still the disappointments and shortcomings that come with them still leave us aware that we still lack that ingredient that fills the emptiness in our hearts.
As Christians, we are given a purpose for living and the source for abundant and meaningful life on this earth. We are recipients of a joy and fulfillment that can come from no other source except knowing the person of Jesus and being saved from the punishment of our sins. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
But still, we are still conscious of the fact that as long as we are in this fallen world, there will always be something lacking.
C.S. Lewis in his book “Mere Christianity,” wrote:
Creatures are not born with desires unless satisfaction for those desires exists. A baby feels hunger; well, there is such a thing as food. A duckling wants to swim; well, there is such a thing as water. . . .
If I find in myself a desire that no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world. If none of my earthly pleasures satisfy it,
that does not prove that the universe is a fraud. Probably, earthly pleasures were never meant
to satisfy it, but only to arouse it, to suggest the real thing.
May we live out our lives on this earth as testimonies of the changing power of God's grace, and may we point others to the abundant life that is found in Christ.
But may we also testify to the truth that something greater awaits those who have placed their trust in Christ. And that something greater is the reason why death loses its sting and is swallowed up in victory. May this Easter season be a time when this truth is proclaimed.
With love, Pastor Scott

February this year was truly not a typical snowy, wintery, icy month. It is hard to believe that Spring seems to be making its way into our lives. There are only a few months left in our AWANA year.
The clubbers have been growing in their knowledge of Jesus and his love for them always.
- FEB. 7 Clubbers brought in non-perishable foods to help refill our Church’s food pantry along with wearing their favorite sports gear for our soup ‘er bowl theme night.
- FEB. 21, we had fun playing glow-in-the-dark games in the Fellowship Hall for Glow Night.
- FEB. 23, the Sparks grades K – 2) crashed the Church, ready to have fun. They came to experience their Sparks late Night out party, a night full of age-appropriate devotions, games and activities geared for them to have lots of fun. Thank you to all Leaders, and Lit’s, who helped to make this event fun!
- Clubbers are purchasing and working hard designing, creating, and getting their Grand Prix cars ready for the upcoming Grand Prix race on Wednesday, March 20 @ 6:05 pm. The congregation, clubbers families & friends are invited to join us at the race! Come cheer on clubbers as they race their cars and show off what they’ve created for this fun event. If you can volunteer on the day of the race to set up or take down, please let Michelle or Tere know.
- Our leaders continue to bring joy, enthusiasm, and love to club each week and continue to make Awana a place that kids love. It is such a blessing to help children memorize scripture and work through their Awana books.
Cool with Christ,
Tere Sharp
