A woman was doing her last-minute Christmas shopping at a crowded mall. She was tired of fighting the crowds. She was tired of standing in lines. She was tired of fighting her way down long aisles looking for a gift that had sold out days before.
Her arms were full of bulky packages when an elevator door opened. It was full. The occupants of the elevator grudgingly tightened ranks to allow a small space for her and her load.
As the doors closed, she blurted out, “Whoever is responsible for this whole Christmas thing ought to be arrested, strung up, and shot!”
A few others nodded their heads or grunted in agreement.
Then, from somewhere in the back of the elevator, came a single voice that said: “Don’t worry. They already crucified him.”
I admit to occasionally having negative feelings about Christmas, when the busyness, materialism and pressures of the season can be overwhelming. But single, simple reminders of Who the season is about bring back the meaning and purpose of all our activity.
December is a busy time for our church, as you see from all the events promoted in this newsletter. Rather than being overwhelmed by everything, don't miss any of the opportunities we have this month that would help us to teach, to proclaim, to celebrate and to share the message of Jesus, our Savior who came to give us life, healing, forgiveness and purpose. It's all about Him!

What Kind of Throne?”
On Sunday evening, December 17th at 7 pm, the Choir and Youth Ensemble will be presenting “What Kind of Throne?”
It explores the reason why Almighty God would not only choose to come to earth as an infant to one day give His life to save us from our sin, but would choose to born into a poor family in lowly circumstances. We hope this retelling of His unfathomable love for us will help you draw closer to the God who sought us….and found us! Save the date & invite a friend!
SPOTLIGHT ON MISSIONS FOR DECEMBER 2017
Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering
Retired ministers, missionaries and their widowed souses often have limited resources to adequately plan for the future. RMMO recipients have used their funds to pay for unexpected expenses or medical costs. The death of a spouse or relocation can also cause retirees to find themselves far from the church family that once supported them. Please join in supporting this much needed ministry.
