At the annual meeting of the American Heart Association in Atlanta, three hundred thousand doctors, nurses,
and researchers came together to discuss, among other things, the importance a low-fat diet plays in keeping our hearts healthy.
Yet during mealtimes, they consumed fat-filled fast food, such as bacon cheeseburgers and fries, at about the same rate as people from other conventions. When one cardiologist was asked whether or not his partaking in high-fat meals set a bad example, he replied, “Not me; I took my name tag off.”
That would sort of be like me going to a pastor's convention, and going to see a dirty movie, thinking it was OK, as long as I didn't keep my name tag on. Then nobody would know about the hypocrisy of my actions.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we have our “name tags” on all the time. We don't get to take them off so we can do things that are contradictory to the Christian life. Let's all try to remember that, when we go to the movies, when we are on Facebook, when we are driving our cars, whether we are out around the public, or home alone or with our families.
“If anyone be in Christ, he is a new creation.”
(II Corinthians 5:17)
With love, Pastor Scott

Book of the Month
Adoniram Judson by Janet and Geoff Benge
In spite of heartache and depression, Adoniram Judson translated the entire Bible into Burmese. Adoniram and his first wife Ann were the spark that spread the fire of the Gospel into Burma, and their evident love for the Burmese people is a compelling story of unswerving dedication and sacrifice.
