When driving around town, I will often notice a variety of bumper stickers, mud flaps, rear window signs and especially license plate frames displaying to all who see the pride the owner of the car takes in his origin. A home-state sports team or an identifying symbol of a geographical location will identify the driver as someone who comes from a particular place. “Roll Tide!” or “Texas Longhorns” or “The Big Apple” will stand out as intended to identify the home place of the car's inhabitants.
Yet, inside that license plate frame sits a rectangular piece of metal that says, “Ohio, the Birthplace of Aviation.” Clearly, the car's owner had moved to Ohio and was required as a resident to have an Ohio license plate, but he had not yet identified with his new home and had no intentions of changing his loyalties.
As Christians, we have become “citizens of heaven.” However, we often go through a slow transition of loyalties to our new home. The kingdom of this world does not easily leave our hearts. Oh, that we would be willing to leave the things of this world behind for the greater substance of spiritual life with our Savior. May we overcome our divided loyalties and fully identify with the kingdom of God.
With love, Pastor Scott

Awana Minute:
Our Awana club had a very busy & exciting 2017 ministering to many new clubbers & families. We arrived back to club January 3 with the weather outside being quite frightful, but their hearts and work ethics warm and delightful. After 2 weeks off from club, spending time with family, friends, and new toys etc. clubbers were excited and ready to get back to the business at hand, of learning and reciting Bible verses, completing sections, and learning through deeper discussions during lesson time all while trying to stay warm and not falling on the ice outside.
January 17, Clubbers arrived dressed and ready for layer night our January theme. And had an Awesome time! Layer night meant that they dressed in as many layers of clothes and accessories as they could either find, and/or walk/waddle in with on. They were as funny as they could be sporting between 4 & over 70 laySPOTLIGHT ON MISSIONSers of clothing and accessories.
While our Cubbies arrived excited and dressed in their favorite colors, fulfilling their theme night favorite colors night.
Friday February 23rd the Sparks club (Grades k – 2) is scheduled to have their late night out party, future club newsletters bulletins, and flyers will bring more information about this fun & exciting event.
The annual Grand Prix race is rolling in Wednesday, March 21; car kits are on sale for clubbers & parents to purchase for $5 per kit. See Ms. Michelle for details.
Saturday March 24th, 6th – 12th grade clubbers are invited to attend CedarMania a full day experience held over at Cedarville University. Keep checking newsletters, weekly Bulletins, flyers, and the church web site calendar, for upcoming activities and events.
As we continue in 2018, teaching and reaching young lives from our church & community, with the gospel of Christ and training them to serve him, we ask that you keep ALL clubbers, parents, leaders, listeners, Lit’s, Co-Commanders in your thoughts and prayers as we continue to help advance the spiritual lives of our future generations.
Cool with Christ, Tere Sharp, Co-Commander
SPOTLIGHT ON MISSIONS
This month, we will again be reaching out to our neighbors across the street at Mad River Manor. We will be preparing valentines and taking them over to residents and spend time visiting with them. Stay tuned for details about the specific day and time.
Our missionary of the month is Jeni Pedzinski, American Baptist missionary in Thailand.
Here is a recent letter from Jeni:
Dear SRBC Family,
I just wanted to thank you so much for the Christmas card. It actually arrived in plenty Of time for Christmas.
Christmas is my favorite time of the year. My family always begins Christmas morning by reading the story in Luke 3 in the old KJV. I’ll definitely do that here too, and remember and celebrate.
Things at New Life Center are very good. We recently baptized 15 girls, and were also able to arrange for one of our residents to see her parents after years of being separated after she was
trafficked by her brother in to a factory. There is a lot to celebrate!
Happy New Year, Jeni Pedzinski
