Roger Barrier, in Listening to the Voice of God, writes that when he left home for college, he never had done his own laundry. His mother had always washed his clothes for him. Upon his leaving home, she gave him a canvas duffel bag, and instructed him to put his dirty clothes in the bag every night. Then at the end of the week he was to take them to a laundromat and wash them.
Seven days later, he took his dirty clothes to the laundromat, threw the duffel bag into the washer, put in some laundry powder, inserted the proper change and turned on the machine. Moments later, a loud thump, thump, thump echoed through the laundromat. A pretty coed approached him with a grin and told him she thought his clothes would get cleaner if he took them out of the duffel bag first.
How similar that is to the way that we often confess our sins. We lump them into one bag and ask God to forgive our sins. While the blood of Christ is indeed sufficient to cover all our sins, it would make sense that we would much more effectively experience His cleansing, healing and forgiveness if we would identify those individual things we have done in disobedience to the Lord's commandments.
A perfunctory, all-encompassing request for forgiveness does seem to minimize the price that was paid for our redemption. But by naming those individual offenses, of which we have been convicted by the Holy Spirit, we can fully claim the promises of our Savior.
We can admit accountability for what we have done, said, or thought, and experience the full cleansing that comes from trusting in the power of the cross to not only remove the guilt of each sin, but to empower us to gain victory over them.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9)

We’ll be hosting a parent meeting for those who have kids in the Youth Group (Grades 7 – 12)
to introduce our new leadership team members and answer any questions regarding our programming before we launch our first meeting.

To all the ladies of Spinning Road Baptist Church concerning the bridal shower for
Abbie Goodman.
We are very happy and excited for Abbie's bridal shower given by her friends and bridesmaids on Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 12 noon to 2 pm.
There is a nice large group of ladies from the church that are able to come in person along with family and friends. Due to COVID, we know there may be others from church that are unable or uncomfortable in being able to attend Abbie's shower in person and that is totally understandable. In wanting to give everyone a chance to congratulate Abbie and give her best wishes, we thought we might try something unique and different. We will have a drive through “Shower/Best Wishes” event for Abbie on Saturday, November 14 from 3:30-5:00 pm after the in-person shower.
If anyone would like to drive by and wish Abbie well or bring a gift by, (no gifts are required), please come to the church parking lot and drive by in your car and stop to talk to Abbie personally, but at a safe distance and receive a small gift for yourself. It would mean a great deal to Abbie to see you and receive your best wishes and congratulations. Please do not feel obligated to come or bring a gift, but because of COVID, the desire is to give everyone a chance to participate if they so desire. We will resume our monthly Men’s Breakfast on November 7
at 8:30 am. Because of COVID-19, we will not be cooking breakfast in the kitchen, but will have a continental style breakfast of bagels, donuts, etc.
All men are invited to join us for this time of fellowship and devotional time. Please bring your masks.

Although we will not be able to have a church dinner in what has become an annual expression of thanks to our veterans, we will be providing a special boxed dinner that veterans can pick-up on a drive-by basis. There will be a sign-up sheet in the church foyer, or you may call the church office or Felicia Chambers to be put on the list. The dinners will be distributed on November 15, at 12:15 here
at the church.
Since COVID-19 is preventing us from having our annual Harvest Dinner, we are going to go back to having a special Thanksgiving worship service. Please join us on Tuesday, November 24 at 7 pm as we take time to count our blessings, which is especially important for us to do during this difficult year. Wear your masks and bring your thanks.
This year we will not have our traditional night of opening it up to the congregation to come and decorate our church building for Christmas. However, since we do want the church decorated, those wishing to help will have specific assignments for them to complete. If you would be willing to take on an assignment, please let Pastor Scott or Rita Look know.
Since we are not able to have a Christmas Cantata this year, we would still like to have an informal “Night of Christmas Music”. If you have a special Christmas song that you would like to share vocally or instrumentally, we would love to have you participate. This event will be Sunday evening, December 20, at 7 pm. Please let Sue Hood know as she is working on putting this event together.

AWANA is back! We had a very successful start that began Wednesday October 7.
Awana is for children age 2 – 12th grade. We meet Wednesday nights from 6:05 – 7:30 PM.
Wow, now how did it get to be November already, what happened to October, it seems to have almost flown by? October was a busy month in the life of our club. We grew a little, met some new friends, welcomed back old friends, and are having fun learning more about Jesus our savior as we sport our masks, get our temperatures taken and sanitize our hands. While Our Puggles and Cubbies clubs along with some of our other clubbers continue growing and learning virtually at home.
Wednesday October 21 clubbers and leaders arrived eager to sport the self-generated hairstyles in support of our theme “crazy hair night” having fun while Bible learning complete with prizes and yes, some interesting hair. Wednesday the 28th kicked off our pantry nights as we bring in nonperishable food items to help restock our church’s food pantry for the holidays.
November will focus on giving; clubbers can fill shoeboxes for Operation Christmas child, and continue bringing in non-perishable food items to give love and food to the needy in our Church, neighborhood, and community for the holidays.
There will be NO club Wednesday November 25 for all to give thanks with their families. Club will resume Wednesday December 2, where we will also open the 1st Awana store of the year for clubbers to get their first experience with the treasures the store
shelves hold!
Thank you to all volunteer listeners who are helping clubbers learn Gods word, so they can begin hiding it in their hearts and applying it to their daily lives!
