A.W. Tozer, long-time editor or the Alliance Witness, once penned this greeting for a January edition. It applies today as much today as it ever did. It read in part:
While all the promises of God are true and precious, yet it is good to take them one by one and especially commit ourselves to them. If you ask God to give you a special message for the opening year, one that will be made seasonable and real in every exigency of the unknown future, you will be surprised how faithfully He will fulfill His Word, and how fittingly the Holy Spirit will speak to you of things to come and anticipate the real needs and exigencies of your life.
If you are like me, I had to look up the word exigency! It means “an urgent need or demand.” How true it is that this new year will put many demands on our lives. Some of those demands we can anticipate and some we have no way of knowing what they will be. But all of them can place a burden on us that may seem unbearable at times.
However, if we start out each day turning to the Word of God, believing and claiming the promises we find there, we will be amazed at how God supplies just what we need to meet each demand. We will see the difference our faith can make when we seek to apply what we read to whatever our situations may be. God has a Word for you and me today, tomorrow and every day of 2024. It is just up to us to read it and find out what it is. Let us commit ourselves to doing that.

Here at SRBC, we collect a Fellowship Offering on the 3rd Sunday of every month. This offering is used for emergency needs and financial assistance for those in need. This has been a great ministry of our church through the years, and we just want to remind you that we are continuing to collect this offering. There is a basket marked Fellowship Fund on the communion table, or you may send in your offering specified as Fellowship Fund. We still focus on the offering on the 3rd Sunday, but you may give at any time.
Please join us for our annual meeting on Sunday, January 28, after the morning worship service. We will once again serve lunch with the meeting. Please join us as we hear how our church has done in the last year.
Women's Tuesday A.M. Bible Study will resume on January 9, from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. We will continue in the video series "Discerning the Voice of God", by Priscilla Shirer, session two. We meet in the large room past the main office, weather permitting. Please join us anytime during the course of our study. Contact Rita Look at

Reminder: It was necessary to reschedule the Children's Christmas play called “Chosen, Too”. It will now be held on Sunday, January 7 at 7:00 p.m. A practice will be on Saturday, January 6 from 10 a.m. until noon. The children will also rehearse before the performance on Sunday afternoon at 4:30. Please plan to attend this extension of our Christmas celebration and support our children who have worked so hard on this play!
Our group continues to thrive! Youth from SRBC and the neighborhood come together on Sunday evenings to play games, eat snacks, pray for each other, share a few laughs, and dig into a Bible lesson and how it applies to us. Christ is the center of our Group, and we would like youth grades 7th – 12th to come hang out with us Sunday evenings from 6 pm – 8 pm and bring your friends! Check us out, you'll find a space that you're welcome and appreciated. We will be intentional with pushing each other towards Christ.
Coming up: Our youth group will be going on a weekend retreat on February 2-4 to Skyview Ranch, a Christian Camp and Conference Center in Millersburg, Ohio. Parents and youth, please see our youth leaders to be sure about departure and arrival times, as well as other important details of the weekend.

Colleen and I would like to express our deepest gratitude for the generous Christmas gift we received from our loving congregation. We were humbled and overwhelmed by it and feel greatly honored and privileged to serve as your pastor and pastor's wife. We look forward to this year ahead of working together for the Lord's kingdom. Our church's food pantry is meeting the needs of many in our Riverside community. We gave out over 30 food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. This could only be accomplished through your generosity. Please consider helping us replenish our shelves.
