It has been great to see folks beginning to make their way back to church after this long and difficult year of quarantines, isolation, social distancing and safety precautions. As things are gradually easing up, so are the restrictions that we have place in regard to church life and attendance. Your patience and cooperation through this pandemic has been extraordinary, as we have sought the Lord's counsel on how to make attending church as safe as possible. As vaccine distribution has increased, we feel that we can modify some of the protocols we have been observing and still provide protection from Covid.
However, we still want people to feel as safe as possible. The Church Council has made some decisions about how we are going to proceed from here. I do hope that these decisions will help you to feel that it is safe to come to church, even though we cannot possibly remove all risks of acquiring the Covid virus. Here is how things are going to look from this point:

1. We will resume our fellowship and greeting time, allowing people to walk around the sanctuary to greet newcomers and others you have not seen for a while. However, we ask that you refrain from shaking hands or hugging. The Praise Band will prepare us for worship and the fellowship time will be a shorter time than it previously had been.
2. Registration cards and pencils will again be placed in the pew racks, so that we can record your attendance, and you can submit prayer requests which will be in the next week's bulletin. We will not be passing the microphone around for immediate prayer requests, but as always, please feel free to call in or text requests to be mentioned on that Sunday morning.
3. Children will be permitted to come up to the front for Children's Time, if their parents wish them to. Children will be guided by the children's time leader to sit with some distance from children from other families.
4. The nursery will now be open for use. If there is anyone who would be willing to take a turn to serve in the nursery, please see Felicia Chambers to be put on a schedule.
5. All pews will be opened up for people to sit, which we hope will actually permit the capability for more social distancing for those who desire it.
6. We do ask that you continue to wear facemasks, as the CDC still considers it unsafe to attend mass gatherings without one.
7. We will continue to not pass the plates for the offering as you have been so faithful in your giving through mail or using the plates at the back of the sanctuary.
8. Team meetings will resume before the Church Council meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. But now the team meetings will be at 6 pm and the Council meeting at 7.
More changes and adjustments are in the works, but for now, these are the main ones you need to know about. It is so wonderful to see more and more people returning to church. On Sunday, May 2, we will be privileged to have a renowned Gideon speaker who will be in town for the state Gideon convention, which is in Dayton this year. Dr. Kim Powell is a retired optometrist from Oregon, Ohio. He is the past Ohio Gideon state president and is currently the Gideon international Chaplain. He served as trustee for the three state region of Ohio, Indiana and Michigan.

Women’s breakfast is meeting again on Saturday, May 8th, at 9 am. We will be wearing masks, social distancing and there will be a reduced menu. But, there will still be lots fellowship with women of the church. Please plan to join us!
Here at SRBC we collect a Fellowship Offering on the 3rd Sunday of every month. This offering is used for emergency needs and financial assistance for those in need. This has been a great ministry of our church through the years, and we just want to remind you that we are continuing to collect this offering. There is a basket marked Fellowship Fund on the communion table, or you may send in your offering specified as fellowship Fund. We still focus on the offering on the 3rd Sunday, but you may give
at any time.

VBS 2021
We’re planning the most fun, and exciting VBS coming this summer! So, grab your hard hat and tool belt since the VBS 2021 Construction Plan is tentatively on!! Look up - way up. That’s where we’re headed. Where I-beams float effortlessly high overhead, carefully guided into place by powerful machinery. Where steel and glass converge into a colossal design that appears to almost touch the sky. These magnificent structures were elaborately designed and intricately built. Yet they all began the same way – with concrete and cranes, rivets and rebar, bulldozers, and backhoes; and most importantly, a solid foundation.
I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
This July, we’re planning to present Concrete & Cranes for Vacation Bible School. This year’s VBS is all about helping kids discover that Jesus’ love provides a foundation that lasts. They’ll learn to be wise builders who continue in what they’ve learned and firmly believe. And they will discover that He who began a good work in them will be faithful to carry it on to completion. Each day kids will dig deep into God’s Word to build on the foundation Jesus provides through the pages of Scripture as well as make crafts, play fun games, sing cool songs, learn memory verses, make new friends, and enjoy skits.
This summer, kids ages 3 years old (by June 1, 2021 and potty trained) through completed 6th grade from 6-8:30 p.m. July 25-30, 2021 will grab their hard hats and head out to the construction site to discover that skyscrapers aren’t the only things that need a rock-solid foundation. Life is a hard hat zone. But just wait ‘til you see what God will do! It’s almost VBS time! Registration will open June 1.
Note: Currently, this event will be hosted in-person, but this is subject to change depending on the health climate. While we don’t know what the next few months will bring, we are hopeful that it will include the return of VBS.
AWANA MINUTE:
It has been another incredible year of AWANA! The 2020 -21 club year is about to come to a close. Club in April was terribly busy, with sections being completed, books being finished, the word of God being presented, it’s so exciting to experience the Love of God flowing thru the clubbers each week.
Saturday April 17, Sparks & TNT clubbers gave up extra sleep, cartoons, cereal and came in to work hard at Super Section Saturday, finishing hard and long sections, challenges, and discoveries (Yea, Go clubbers!). Thank-you to all leaders for helping to make this such a fun and rewarding event for all who attended.
April 21, clubbers came to club dressed for our theme night, “Nerds for God’s word night”, where they brought out their inner smartness for learning God’s word.
April 28 the Trek & Journey clubs adventured out to the Magic Castle and played games, “hit a few” on the mini golf course, and of course ate a few snacks for their club outing.
April 28 Clubbers arrived dressed in their pj’s complete with stuffies, robes, slippers, and some cool pj’s.
The last Awana store for this club year will open May 5, where clubbers will unload and empty out their bank accounts of hard-earned points and purchase cool items found on the store shelves.
We will host our in-person Awards/closing Ceremonies Wednesday May 12 beginning at 6:05 pm in the Sanctuary where all clubbers and leaders will be recognized for their accomplishments this club year. We would like to invite everyone to come celebrate with us as we close out this club year.
We would like to say a Special THANK-YOU to all of our Directors, Leaders, Listeners, leaders in training, helpers, Fran our Church secretary, Chris our Janitor for doing such a great and wonderful job in faithfully ministering to all of the kids of our Church and neighborhoods about the word of God. All of your participation, service, support, and dedication really does help make a difference in these kids’ lives.
A Great Big Thank-you also goes out to Pastor Scott, clubbers parents, Grandparents, and all of you the congregation members who continue to actively support our programs faithfully with your positive support and prayers!

To ensure the safety of our children, please Slow down and pay special attention entering, moving about, and exiting our parking lot. Sunday & Wednesdays in particular there are many children in the parking lot, and we want to be sure that we are driving with caution at all times. Youth, in-person/in-building meetings are happening.
We meet Sunday nights from 6:30 pm-8 pm for students to worship Jesus, grow in faith together, eat some snacks, and hang out. Current 7th-12th grade students are invited to come check out our youth group for yourself! Masks and social distancing are required. We want you to be a part of youth group! Get here every Sunday. Awana missionaries are on the front line in the battle for the souls of children. They open God’s Word and present the good news as they visit scores of clubs every year.
Our AWANA Missionaries are Mike and Chris Reed. They have been AWANA missionaries for over 16 years.
God provides the resources for their ministry and living expenses through the faithfulness of those churches and individuals who become partners with them.
HOW CAN YOU BE INVOLVED?
- Share information about your Awana ministry with others.
- Give to the ministry individually or through your church.
- Pray for your Awana missionary family. Pray for the Awana ministry locally, state wide and nationwide, for additional leaders, volunteers, lay leaders, and for the children who will come in contact with Awana
Please consider giving to these missionaries as they proclaim God’s word to our AWANA children.
