There have been several mornings this winter when the fog has been so thick, it truly was difficult finding my way into work. I could certainly see why they put the schools on a 2 hour delay so children could be transported safely to school. You wouldn't want children riding in a bus if the bus driver couldn't see what was in front of him.
In a similar way our way to see through life can be blocked by the stress, worry and fears that we face on a daily basis. It sometimes seems so overwhelming that we don't know what steps to take next and we are just hemmed in by the fog that life has presented us.
I read where a if dense fog covering seven city blocks to a depth of a hundred feet was condensed into water, that it wouldn't even fill a drinking glass. That's according to the U.S Bureau of Standards.
That makes me think of how those worries and stresses of life that block our vision and limit our ability to navigate are often things of such little actual substance. We often worry about things happening that actually never do, or we are overwhelmed by fears of things that really can be overcome. By simply proceeding slowly and steadily we can make our way through the fog just fine.
II Corinthians 4: 16 says, “Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. For we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen in temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
As we move through what life presents to us, together let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
With love,
