There is an issue facing our state that has to do with much more than politics, although politics have certainly entered into it. Laws are traditionally constructed by law-makers, elected by the people to represent them as they do so. However, it is also possible to have laws that are citizen-initiated, which would mean amending the governmental constitution. In our country's 247-year history, this has been done 27 times. State constitutions have been amended more often than that, although it is still relatively rare.
Since the overturn of Roe vs. Wade, the focus is now on the states to determine their stance on the lives of unborn children. Since the legalization of abortion, Ohio lawmakers have been decidedly pro-life in the laws they have passed. Because of that, there is an attempt to override the lawmakers and have voters make new laws by changing the state constitution.
An issue is coming before the voters this November proposing to change the constitution that would make Ohio a radically pro-abortion state.
It proposes to remove any restrictions to abortion, including parental consent. The funding and promotion of this issue is coming from out-of-state pro-abortion special interest groups. Ohio is being seen as a testing ground for this concept, and if this attempt is successful, it will pave the way for the same thing to be done in the rest of the states.
An effort was made in August to thwart this tactic by making it more difficult to amend the state constitution, but that effort failed. This is all being done in an off-election year, meaning voter turnout is much lower in years when we are not electing senators, representatives and a president. This makes it easier to sneak in such proposals in years when most people, myself included, usually don't vote. This is truly a demon-inspired tactic.
Please take the time to educate yourself in regard to this upcoming vote. Use your Christian voice to help determine if we are truly in a “post-Christian” age, or if Christians still can make a biblical stand in this world. The Bible is an indisputable proponent of the sanctity of life and fetal viability. This has nothing to do with political parties and favorite candidates. This is a spiritual and moral issue that will shape the direction of our country.
With love for God, His Word and His People, Pastor Scott

I wanted to thank you for Spinning Road Baptist Church’s donation to our “Day of Giving Back.” Because of the generosity of Spinning Road Baptist Church, we provided over 1,500 book bags to our families in Mad River Local Schools.
I cannot express enough the gratitude my staff, our community, our students, and I have for your church. You have made a difference in a child’s life and allowed them to begin the school year positively as they step into the hallways of our eight school buildings. We are truly blessed to have such great partners.
Thank You,

Fall is here! Fall is here! That means Awana is off and running. We’re playing, singing, learning, making new friends and changing all while learning about Gods word. Club kicked off Wednesday, September 6th. We welcomed new clubbers, and past clubbers to begin our 20th year of club with us, how awesome is that! Clubbers have been arriving hungry for God, friends, fellowship with leaders, and all of the awesome things that Awana has to offer this year.
Wednesday September 20, clubbers represented their schools wearing their colors for our 1st theme night of the year, School colors night.
Our theme night for October will be Crazy Hair/Outfit Night. It will be possible to see some serious hair and clothes creativity on this fun night. Clubbers, get your silliest and most crazy hair do and/or Outfit together and sport it at club on the 18th. Contests for the craziest hairdo/Outfit of the night.
On the 25th we will have a special fall Harvest fun night. Our season of giving will kick off
as we ask clubbers to bring in non-perishable food to help re-stock our food pantry
for the holidays.
Thank you to all the faithful leaders and volunteers creating the opportunity each week!
We ask that you continue to fulfill your very important role in club by praying for everyone involved in club each week.
Thank-you for your continued support in this ministry!
Kids matter to God, and us!

The writer of Ecclesiastes made the point clear with poetic brilliance. There is a time, a reason and a season “for every activity under heaven” (v. 1). In this well-known record of wisdom literature (chapter 3), the writer reminds us: God has a plan! The Lord has bookended our lives with birth and death (v. 2). Our knowledge of our limited experience (i.e., time) gives meaning and urgency of purpose to our existence. In what may appear to be chaos and confusion, God reminds us there is a plan and purpose for every experience. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).
As we receive the World Mission Offering, you are invited to join Christ’s church as we participate in God’s ongoing work.
We gather and receive the offering now.
We store and share God’s riches by investing in God’s global mission work.
We send and receive servants at the right time of the year.
And God’s mysteriously perfect timing brings timeliness and beauty.
In all of these activities, occurring in the right season and time, the church can witness God’s lovely work of bringing God’s kingdom “on earth as it is in heaven.”
