1. There is a connection between the confession of sins and the confession of our faith.
(I John 1:9)
A way is opened up to fellowship with God.


2. There is a connection to prayer. (16)
If you aren't confessing your sins, your prayer life is going to be much less effective.


3. There is a connection between confession and fellowship with other Christians and the responsibility we have to one another.
In confessing to one another, our confession to God becomes much more real.


Why confess sin to others? So that you may be healed.
Confession isn't so much revealing a secret. The times you need to confess to others is when they already know what you've done.
There is a stricter judgment for leaders.
Jesus died so that we could confess our sins and be totally forgiven.

Hezekiah was single-minded in the fact that he wanted to please God.


1. Hezekiah repaired the door of the temple. (II Chronicles 29:3)
We need to pay attention to areas in our lives that we have neglected for too long.


2. Hezekiah cleansed the temple utensils. (II Chronicles 29:18)
If objects in your home are set apart for the Lord, that would be a great beginning of insuring that your
life is consecrated to the Lord.


3. Hezekiah removed idols from the temple.(II Kings 18:4)
If any item is no longer an aid to worship, but rather an object of worship, then it is an idol.


4. Hezekiah re-instituted the widespread celebration of the Passover. (II Chronicles 30:2-3)
The priority of the Church today must always be the proclamation of the gospel.



Results: Judah was strengthened by the spiritual changes they made and there was power in their prayers.
The Church today needs to believe that God is greater than the opposing forces that surround us.

The exclusivity of Christianity frightens a lot of us.
(14:6, John 10:9, 15:5-6)
If you know Jesus you know God because Jesus is God. (8-11)
God is the One who has the authority to make the rules.
Matthew 7:13-14- “wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

If you are outside the realm of a king's rule, then you are not a part of that kingdom.
As exclusive as the gospel is, it is also extremely inclusive. (John 3:16, Matthew 28:19, Acts 1:8, Revelation 7: 9)
Most of us want to be pluralistic about religion, yet we want to be absolute about the other realms of life.
God made a way so that everyone could escape going to hell, if they choose to accept His way.
The point is, you have heard the truth

The ten commandments seem to be in the form of restrictions, but they are actually very liberating concepts.


1. First 4 commandments - Our spiritual life.
God wants first place in your life.
God won't compete with other gods. (3)
God won't compete with other things. (4-5)
God won't compete with other names .(7)
God won't compete with your job. (8-9)


2. Second 3 commandments – Our relationships (12-14)
placing value on others
The difference between relationships that work and those that don't is respect.


3. Last 3 commandments – Our integrity (15-17)
in our work
in our words
in our wants
Living the good life is not a matter of what we accumulate, it is a matter of what we become.
