1. a promise (5)
Leaders don't lead forever.
Joshua was the leader whose time had come.
Promises
a. Joshua would be successful
b. the territory would expand
c.- most importantly- “I will be with you.”
2. a challenge (6-9)
why courage was needed
a. Moses wasn't there
b. the Promised Land had yet to be conquered
where it comes from
a. knowing we have been put here by God
b. knowing we are doing what God wants
“Muttering” God's Word changes how much you remember
3. the response (16-18)
Their response was the opposite of what the nation had done forty years before.
It was more than just a statement of encouragement to Joshua, it was a prayer directed to the Lord.
This is about us intently following the One who is the true Leader.
