No one can tame the tongue! (8)
If we offer the parts of our bodies to God as instruments of righteousness, then God can control our tongue.
The inconsistency in the use of our tongue is a reflection of the inconsistency in our Christian lives.
2. The tongue can be devastating.
analogy- fire. Words we say can utterly destroy and rapidly spread.
Words, like fire, are not retractable. The effects are permanent.
3. The tongue can be edifying.
Words can encourage, build, praise and teach.
The tongue can do great things when it is the kind of fire from above, a weapon used for good and for the Lord.
