Matthew 4:18-23
Jesus wants us to live with a sense of mission, of determination to accomplish something of lasting value.
Elements of mission
1. Our mission is to change lives. (19)
If we're not involved in work that promotes positive change in the lives of others, we're not doing ministry.
2. Our mission is to heal the hurting. (23-24)
We do what we can to help people find wholeness and experience the fullness of God.
3. Our mission is to teach the Word of God. (23)
The Bible compels us to address some issues that we might be tempted to sidestep.
Our message is not “do this, or else” it is “do this, and your life is better!”
