Luke 14:15-24
party/celebration/banquet- present and future aspects of being one of God's people
1. God is preparing for a celebration. (16-17)
Our necessary sacrifices do not change the fact that God is a good God and that responding to His invitation results in a life of celebration.
2. People who have been invited into a relationship with God often reject that invitation. (18-20)
In each case, the excuses were legitimate, but not sufficient.
If you miss God's party, it's because you chose to make other things a priority.
3. God will be angry with those who reject His offer. (21-23, Hebrews 2:3)
Those who are totally, spiritually unworthy are welcome to come anyway.
The servant's mission
a. to go quickly into the street-urgency of getting the message out
b. make them come in-keep asking, pleading, encouraging
You don't earn the invitation by how good or popular you are. You just have to accept it.
