Genesis 1:26-30
1. You are a person. (created in the image of God) vs. 27
You can learn and reason and think in ways no other living creature can.
You can feel complex emotions.
You have the ability to make decisions and choices regarding your eternal destiny.
You were created to exercise dominion over the rest of creation.
2. You are a sinner. Romans 3:10, 3:23, I John 1:10
Every aspect of your personality has been tainted by sin.
We may be advancing in technology and scientific knowledge, but in morality we are only getting worse.
3. You are the object of God's love. (John 3:16)
You don't have to do anything to make God love you. (Romans 5:6-8)
4. Because God became a man, you can become a new person, a saint. (II Corinthians 5:17)
As a Christian, you are no longer a “sinner,” but a saint who sometimes sins.
