Matthew 11:28-30
Some of our burdens
burden of guilt
burden of religious expectations
burden of a hectic schedule
burden of failing relationships
2. If you have burdens, Jesus has something to offer you.
a. “I will give you rest” - a place to turn to to allow the weight to be lifted from you (John 16:33)
b. “I am gentle and humble in heart” - He is careful to challenge us without discouraging us.
c. “My yoke is easy - His work is not grueling and back-breaking.
d. “My burden is light” - His work load is light, it is do-able.
3. If you have burdens, Jesus has something to say to you.
a. “Come to Me”
This is how we enter the Christian life and this is how we maintain the Christian life. (I Peter 5:7; Psalm 55:2)
b. “Yield to Me”
Take off your yoke and exchange it for His yoke. (Galatians 2:20)
c. “Learn from Me”
Releasing your burdens is a process.
He bore our burdens so that we wouldn't have to bear them ourselves. (I Peter 2:24)
