The Gibeonites deceived the Jews into thinking they were from a city far away.
Why we don't take to pray about decisions
a. We are impatient.
b. We already know what we want to do.
c. We think we can figure things out by ourselves.

2. Deception eventually goes bad. (16-23)
Sooner or later, deception catches up to you.
The Gibeonites dishonesty didn't change the fact that the treaty had already been made.
3. Deception is no match for God. (10:6-15)
God never views our mistakes as permanent.
God made it possible for His people to take the land more quickly.
Joshua asked God for an additional day of sunlight.
We don't have to understand how God is doing everything in our lives to appreciate it.
It's easy to fake the Christian life, because it gets you what you want, for the time being.
