Exodus 20:16; John 8:32
Silence can be a lie.
You can tell a partial-truth and yet still lie.
1. Lying is wrong because it pushes us away from God.
God is truth. (John 17:3; 14:6; 16:13)
Satan is a liar. (John 8:44)
2. Lying is wrong because it separates us from each other.
When the truth is not a given factor in a relationship, then disappointment, heartache and insecurity are the inevitable results.
3. Lying is wrong because it is self-destructive.
Is dishonesty ever justified?
We need forgiveness for the lesser of two evils just as much as for the greater.
“Honesty means that everything you say must be true, not that everything that is true must be said.”
Our goal in life ought to be to embrace the Truth.
