2. (vs 4-7). Receiving by Faith, then Growing in His Grace
Look at the progression of our spiritual growth described by Peter in verses 5-7...
It begins when we place our trust in Christ through faith. To that Peter says...
+ Virtue (Separation from evil)
+ Knowledge (The ability to discern truth)
+ Self-control (Saying no to self and yes to God)
+ Perseverance (Standing firm in Christ)
+ Godliness (Humbly walking with God)
+ Brotherly kindness (Living the love of God)
3. (vs 8-11). The Benefit or Consequence of our choice
v8 - "neither useless nor unfruitful" - Benefit
v9 - "short-sighted" - spiritual blindness - Consequence
"...for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble." 2 Peter 1:10b
