I Corinthians 9:24-27
A person who wants to have a meaningful life must have:
1. Drive (24)
a. As you run your race, what matters is how you run.
b. Too many Christians are content with the fact that they are in the race.
c. We are in competition with an enemy who wants to keep us from doing our best. (Philippians 3:14; Hebrews 12:1)
2. Direction (26)
a. Having direction means you have a plan. (25)
b. We are not able to blueprint our lives.
c. Make plans for your life, but you'd better plan to change your plans. (Colossians 1:29)
3. Discipline (25, 27)
a. Though it is wrong for us to think we can achieve holiness on our own strength, it is also wrong for us to
neglect a disciplined approach.
b. When life gets hard, it will all depend on how your disciplines have prepared you for those moments.
c. There comes a point when disciplines no longer seem like hard work, but rather the very thing that invigorates you.
God's plan is for us to live lives full of meaning and purpose.
