Psalms 29:1-11
Parts of a storm
1. Thunder (vs. 3-4)
The power of God's voice is something that cannot be totally ignored.
His authority is unlimited. (6, 8)
2. Lightning (5, 7)
Jesus is the light that overcomes the darkness. (John 1:4)
When Christ returns, all that is impressive and lofty will be brought low. (Isaiah 2:12)
3. Wind (9)
The Holy Spirit is invisible, yet His presence, like the wind, cannot be denied. (John 3:8, Acts 2:2)
The voice of the Lord in our lives demands that everything in creation shout “Glory!”
4. Utter stillness (I Kings 19:11-13)
We need to take time to acknowledge and listen to the Lord.
5. Rain (10-11)
Even in the midst of devastation, God is still on the throne.
When times are hard is when God's presence can be most greatly felt.
