Matthew 5:6; Psalms 63:1-5
The deep hunger and thirst within us is spiritual in nature, not material.
The beautitudes show us that the root of our misery is the fact that we live such self-centered lives.
Righteousness
1. legal dimension- we are justified before God
2. moral dimension - sanctification
Loss of appetite is a tell-tale sign of diminished health.
What does your appetite for the things of God tell you about the condition of your spiritual health?
Jeremiah 2- two sins
1. “have forsaken Me”
2. “have dug their own cisterns”
Is this passage describing you? Are you pouring your life into a broken cistern?
You can only know what it is like to be filled when you have first been hungry or thirsty.
