I Peter 1:3-9
Three principles to outlast the storm.
1. This problem is only temporary. (vs. 6 - “for a little while”)
2-step formula
a. Don't sweat the small stuff,
b. Remember that it's all small stuff.
2. This problem doesn't have to make me miserable. (vs. 6- “In this, you greatly rejoice.”)
reasons to rejoice (3-5)
a. We have received God's mercy.
b. We have been given new birth and new life.
c. We can live with a sense of hope and optimism.
d. We need not be afraid of death.
e. We have an eternal inheritance.
f. We are protected by God's power.
3. This problem will help me grow. (vs. 7)
a. We have the power to overcome any test or temptation that comes our way. (I Cor. 10:13)
b. Every problem, no matter how disastrous, can be worked out for our best. (Neh.13:2; Deut. 23:5; Rom. 8:28)
What is relevant is how you react to the storm.
